The marathon has no cutoff, so walkers can finish at their own pace. The route passes Iolani Palace and Chinatown, runs along Waikiki, goes around Diamond Head and through Kahala to Hawaii Kai, then heads back to Kapiolani Park. The 10K also has no time limit.

Parking and travel

Getting to the start

Everyone starts together at 5 a.m. in corrals by predicted finish time. Free shuttles run from the Honolulu Zoo to the start between 2 and 4 a.m. but are limited. Street parking is scarce within several blocks of the start and is not allowed at Ala Moana Center, Ward, or Whole Foods lots.

Shirt and medal

What finishers get

Marathon finishers receive a medal modeled on the winners' gold medal and a finisher shirt at a tent right after the finish, where malasadas are served. Bags can be dropped at the Kapiolani Park finish area on Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., using the official labeled bag.

Awards

Finisher Monday

On Monday, December 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Hawaii Convention Center, finishers can collect certificates. Marathon age group awards go to the top three in each category and are handed out only there, never mailed. The 10K and the Merrie Mile have no age group awards.
