Privacy policy

What we collect

• Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records requests (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time). We use these to keep the site running and to understand what people search for. Logs are kept for a limited time. Our content delivery provider, Cloudflare, may also count page views in aggregate without cookies.
• Outbound clicks. When you click a link to RunSignup we record the page you were on and the destination so we can reconcile affiliate commissions. We do not record your identity.
• Location.If you use the "near me" option, your browser asks your permission and sends coordinates to our server for that search only. We do not store them on our server. Your browser remembers the area you last searched, and any races you save, in its own local storage so the site can show them next time; that never leaves your device, and you can clear it with "Forget this area" or your browser settings.
• Email lists and alerts.If you sign up for the monthly calendar, price reminders for a race, or alerts for new races near an area, we keep your email address, what you signed up for, and for area alerts the area's name and a point rounded to about a kilometer. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
• Contact form. If you write to us we keep your message and email address so we can reply.

Cookies and advertising

RaceNearMe does not require cookies to work. If we show advertising through a network such as Google AdSense, that network may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info. Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are shown a consent request before any advertising cookies are set.

Third parties

Most race details come from RunSignup; the rest come from each race's official website. Registering for a race happens on RunSignup or the race's own registration site, under that site's privacy policy (for RunSignup, its privacy policy). Fonts are served by Google Fonts.

Your choices

You can use the site without creating an account or sharing your location. To ask about or delete information you sent through the contact form, contact us.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and note the date at the top.
