What runners should know about Lilac Bloomsday Run, in brief, from the official race website.
Schedule and packet pickup
Elite and Corporate Cup runners go first at 9:00 a.m., followed by seeded color groups every few minutes. The last group, Red, leaves about 10:30 a.m., roughly 90 minutes after the first wave. Chip timing measures your own start to finish, and you should be in your corral 30 minutes before your group's time.
Schedule and packet pickup
Bibs are picked up at the Spokane Convention Center Exhibition Hall, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd, on the Friday and Saturday before the race, where the trade show also runs. A short early Sunday window is for out of town runners only. 2027 hours were not yet posted when we checked.
Course
The best known climb on the course is Pettet Hill, which runners call Doomsday Hill. The third water station sits at its top. Water and medical stations line both sides of the road along the route, with a final water stop just past the finish.
Parking and travel
Downtown lots and the Spokane Arena offer parking, and carpooling is encouraged. Spokane Transit runs Sunday morning shuttles from several park and ride spots for a small fare, dropping off on 1st Avenue near the start. Streets near the start and finish close from 5 a.m. to about 2 p.m.
Shirt and medal
Only finishers get the Bloomsday shirt, and its color and artwork stay secret until race day. Each finisher collects one shirt in person just past the finish by handing in the tag on their bib. The 2027 design comes from a public artist contest. A souvenir bib now comes with the shirt.
Rules and FAQ
More than half the field walks. Strollers and non racing wheelchairs must start in the Red group and walk the whole course. Dogs other than service animals and hydration backpacks are not allowed. The course closes at 1:30 p.m.; slower finishers can carry on along the sidewalk.

Spokane's big 12K (7.46 miles), held on the first Sunday in May since 1977 and run by the Lilac Bloomsday Association. The 2027 edition is the 51st. Runners and walkers leave downtown on Riverside Avenue in color coded waves, and the course mixes hills with flat stretches before finishing near the Monroe Street Bridge.
