Most entries come through a random selection lottery; charity entries (with a fundraising pledge) and bypass entries for elites and past winners open first. For 2026 the lottery ran in February and the fee was $175 plus fees. The 2027 registration schedule and fee are not posted yet.

Schedule and packet pickup
The cannon start is at 9:00 a.m. In 2026, bibs were handed out the evening before in the Red Barn behind the base lodge and on race morning under a tent at the base, with photo ID required; check the site for 2027 times.
Course
Official timing stops 3 hours 30 minutes after the start, and later finishers are not timed. There is a single water refill point about halfway up, so runners are told to carry a bottle. Medical teams are at the base, the midpoint and the summit. Runners must be at least 14 on race day.
Parking and travel
Every runner must arrange a ride down from the summit. Support drivers pay a fee, must carry at least three runners, and have to pass the gate before it closes at 8:00 a.m.; summit parking is limited. Pack warm clothes in the car, since there is no bag drop at the top.
Shirt and medal
Finishers get race bling and a commemorative fleece blanket at the summit, where portable toilets, water and first aid are also provided. A post race meal is no longer included; food trucks sell food at the base.
Rules and FAQ
The race may be delayed, shortened or cancelled for ice, snow, very high wind or driving rain, with no refunds. Entries cannot be refunded, transferred or deferred, and unregistered runners are banned. Strollers and dogs are not allowed.
The cause
Through Delta Dental's sponsorship, the race supports the dental program at Coos County Family Health Services in northern New Hampshire; the organizers say donations have passed $500,000 since 2012.
