How fast is it?

Slower than most Virginia 5Ks

The fastest quarter of the 2025 5K field finished under 31:24, against 28:55 in a typical Virginia 5K, so times here run 9 percent slower.

  • 1 Mile: Faster than most Virginia 1-mile races. The fastest quarter of the 2025 1-mile race field finished under 5:27, against 9:07 in a typical Virginia 1-mile race, so times here run 40 percent faster.

Compares the fastest quarter of each field, so walkers and first-timers do not skew it. It reflects the course and the field together: a flat course, cool weather, or a competitive crowd all make times faster.

Around November 22 the day usually runs from 37°F at dawn to 53°F in the afternoon, with measurable rain on about 26% of days. Cold snaps dip to 28°F and hot years reach 61°F.
