Entry opened September 16, 2026 with 265 first come first served slots, now gone. A Second Chance Lottery for 50 more slots plus reserved categories took applications September 19 to 26, with the draw by September 30 and a waitlist drawn from it. The 100 and 50 share one entry pool.

Schedule and packet pickup
Packets are handed out Friday from noon to 7:30 pm: a drive through pickup at Camp Crabtree until 6:30 pm, then the headquarters dining hall. Late pickup is possible Saturday morning. A free Friday spaghetti dinner is offered to runners, volunteers and one crew member per runner.
Course
Both possible courses are USATF certified 12.5 mile laps run eight times, with 7,250 to 8,000 feet of climb. The race may return to its traditional course in 2027 after a bridge closure, but it is not confirmed. No single track; most is wide, packed trail. The limit is 30 hours, with a soft cutoff at 26 hours.
Parking and travel
Enter from the US 70 (Glenwood Avenue) gate and follow the race signs. Each runner gets an assigned parking spot near the course with the pass in the packet; others park at Power Line Parking or Camp Crabtree. After 8 pm Saturday the gate opens only on the hour. Heavy rain can close lots and mean a longer walk.
Shirt and medal
The fee covers a race shirt or hat, a finisher memento, a 100 mile finisher certificate and the Friday dinner. The race is run by volunteers under the North Carolina Ultra Running Association. There is no separate 50 mile shirt or large medal; 50 mile finishers get the memento.
Rules and FAQ
The 100 requires a 50 mile race finished within its limit, or 50+ miles in a 12 hour race, since April 1, 2024, at least a month before race day. The 50 mile option needs no qualifier. Minimum age is 18. The $225 fee refunds less $50 before February 1; no refunds after that, and no transfers or deferrals.
More from the race
Full aid stations sit at headquarters and the far turnaround, plus a water point passed twice a lap, so aid is never more than about 4 miles away. Drop bags are allowed at both aid stations. Crews are welcome but not needed. Pacers may join from 6:30 pm Saturday or lap 5, and volunteer pacers are offered.
