How fast is it?

Slower than most US 10-mile races

The fastest quarter of the 2025 10-mile race field finished under 1:32:43, against 1:24:00 in a typical US 10-mile race, so times here run 10 percent slower.

  • 8K: Slower than most US 8Ks. The fastest quarter of the 2025 8K field finished under 48:58, against 42:05 in a typical US 8K, so times here run 16 percent slower.
  • 5K: About average for Colorado 5Ks. The fastest quarter of the 2024 5K field finished under 30:09, against 29:37 in a typical Colorado 5K, so times here are about average.

Compares the fastest quarter of each field, so walkers and first-timers do not skew it. It reflects the course and the field together: a flat course, cool weather, or a competitive crowd all make times faster.

Typical race-day weather

Around October 17 the day usually runs from 41°F at dawn to 67°F in the afternoon, with measurable rain on about 9% of days. Cold snaps dip to 34°F and hot years reach 77°F.

Based on 75 days within a week of the date over the last 5 years, from historical weather for the start area. Not a forecast.
