Expo and bib pickup

The expo is at the Javits Center (11th Avenue at West 35th Street) October 29 to 31. Runners must reserve a pickup time slot in their NYRR dashboard and collect their own bib and shirt in person with photo ID and a confirmation form. No one may pick up for another runner.

Start waves

There are five waves, three start colors and six corrals per wave. Wave starts are 9:10, 9:45, 10:20, 10:55 and 11:30 a.m., and corrals close about 25 minutes before each. Runners may move back to a later wave but never forward.

Course

The course

From Staten Island the route runs up Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, through Williamsburg and Long Island City, then over the Queensboro Bridge to First Avenue. For 2026 the Bronx section changes slightly between the Willis Avenue and Madison Avenue bridges, the first course change in 15 years. It ends in Central Park.

Getting to the start

Runners pick one official ride to Fort Wadsworth and are assigned a departure time: the free Staten Island Ferry from Whitehall Terminal plus a shuttle bus, a bus from the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue, or a bus from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Only the clear start village bag is allowed in.

What finishers get

Finishers receive a medal, a poncho and a recovery bag with snacks and drinks, plus an official result, credit toward guaranteed 2027 entry through the 9+1 program, and a star in the Abbott World Marathon Majors six star program. Runners exit Central Park at West 77th Street.

Rules and FAQ

Time limit

The course stays open for a 16 minute per mile pace based on the last wave start; slower runners may be moved to sidewalks or offered the sweep bus. Anyone finishing by 10 p.m. is an official finisher. Fluids are served most miles from 3 to 25, with gels at miles 12 and 18.
