Schedule and packet pickup

Race weekend

A free 3 mile shakeout run starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Karavel Shoes, the official packet pickup spot. Full packet pickup details had not been posted when checked. On Sunday the 5K and 10 miler go off at 7 a.m. and the Kids K at 9:15 a.m.

Course

Course and time limit

The start sits just east of Lamar and the finish on the South First Street Bridge, about half a mile apart. A 600 meter timed hill segment on the 10 mile course is scored automatically for every 10 miler. The course stays open for 3 hours; walkers are welcome.

Shirt and medal

What finishers get

In person runners get a bib, race shirt, free photos and a bronze finisher medal for the 20th year, plus a free 10 week training plan. Kids K runners get a medal and a cape. A finish line festival follows with food trucks and Burundian drummers.

Overall and masters winners in the 10 miler and 5K, RRCA championship awards and Hill Challenge winners are honored at the Winners Circle in the finish festival from 8:30 a.m. Top two age group awards are mailed starting Nov. 17.

Rules and FAQ

Ages, strollers and pets

Minimum age is 13 for the 10 miler and 6 for the 5K; the Kids K has no minimum. Strollers may start near the back. Pets and bikes are not allowed on the course. Entries cannot be refunded or transferred, though you can switch distances by email.

The cause

The cause

The race is the main fundraiser of the Gazelle Foundation, co founded by Burundian runner and Austin coach Gilbert Tuhabonye. Event proceeds pay for water systems in Burundi. A virtual Global Run option is also offered for those outside Austin.

A downtown Austin charity road race run by the Gazelle Foundation, with proceeds funding clean water systems in Burundi. The 10 mile route heads from downtown out to Tarrytown and back to a flat finish on the South First Street Bridge; 2026 is the 20th edition and hosts the RRCA 10 Mile Championship.
