Teams run three trail loops in turn, about 121 miles in all, or roughly 15.2 miles per runner, with 265 feet of total climbing. The singletrack suits runners of all levels.

Solo options
Runners without a team can enter one of Ragnar's individual races at Trail Arizona: a single Saturday loop ($40), a 6 hour ultra ($175) or a 24 hour ultra from Friday evening to Saturday ($250), all on the relay loops. Results for the timed races count completed loops.

A Ragnar overnight trail relay in McDowell Mountain Regional Park northeast of Phoenix. Teams share a campsite village and take turns on desert singletrack loops among saguaros, with fairly little climbing.
