Schedule and packet pickup
Pick up packets at the Health and Lifestyle Expo, Oregon Convention Center Hall D, on Saturday, October 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A photo ID is needed. There is no race morning pickup, but packets can be shipped for an extra fee. Kids Run packets can also be collected on race day, 10 to 11 a.m., at its start.
Course
The start and finish sit 36 feet above sea level and the high point is 178 feet. The marathon loops downtown and NW 23rd Ave, crosses the Broadway Bridge twice, heads south over the Sellwood Bridge, circles Reed College, returns on the Eastbank Esplanade and crosses the Burnside Bridge to finish.
Parking and travel
The start area opens at 5 a.m.; aim to arrive by 6:30, when drop bags are due. Parking garages around the venue charge a fee and the closest fill early, so allow about 45 minutes to park and walk. Many hotels are within walking distance, and MAX light rail serves the expo.
Shirt and medal
Runners choose a tech shirt, or a tri-blend shirt for a small upgrade fee, and every finisher gets a medal. The finish festival has food, drinks and a free Oregon beer for runners of legal age, plus a printed result card. Boston qualifiers receive a luggage tag.
Awards
The top three men and women overall in the marathon, half marathon and 10K are placed by gun time. Marathon and half marathon age group awards go three deep and are handed out at the finish. Teams of four or more get a registration discount and team scoring.
Rules and FAQ
The marathon limit is 6 hours 33 minutes (a 15 minute mile), timed from when the last runner starts; the 10K limit is 1 hour 33 minutes. Marathoners reaching a freight rail crossing near mile 24.3 after noon take a short certified reroute. Pacers run marathon goals from 2:55 to 4:20.
