How fast is it?

Slower than most District of Columbia 5Ks

  • 10K: Slower than most US 10Ks. The fastest quarter of the 2024 10K field finished under 1:02:06, against 55:00 in a typical US 10K, so times here run 13 percent slower.

Compares the fastest quarter of each field, so walkers and first-timers do not skew it. It reflects the course and the field together: a flat course, cool weather, or a competitive crowd all make times faster.

Laufvergnügen

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · Washington, DC

Lauf means run. Vergnügen means pleasure. Put them together and you get a race that ends with bratwurst.

Some races are about your split times. This is not one of them.

Laufvergnügen is a German fun run in the truest sense of both words — a real course, a real clock, real awards for the fast folks, and then an Oktoberfest at the finish line that most people would show up for even if there were no running involved.
