How fast is it?

Slower than most Texas half marathons

The fastest quarter of the 2025 half marathon field finished under 2:08:48, against 2:01:59 in a typical Texas half marathon, so times here run 6 percent slower.

Compares the fastest quarter of each field, so walkers and first-timers do not skew it. It reflects the course and the field together: a flat course, cool weather, or a competitive crowd all make times faster.

Typical race-day weather

Around November 15 the day usually runs from 57°F at dawn to 74°F in the afternoon, with measurable rain on about 25% of days. Cold snaps dip to 44°F and hot years reach 81°F.

From the organizers

The La Porte By the Bay Half Marathon starts at Sylvan Beach Park by the water. The course takes runners through La Porte streets and onto the Fred Hartman Bridge, one of Texas' most distinctive structures. The bridge features twin steel towers reaching 440 feet high, with yellow cables that stand out against the sky.

After completing two bridge crossings, runners finish at Five Points Plaza where they can enjoy a post-race party featuring good food, cold beer, and awards. All finishers receive a medal.

This event is the third race in the Texas Bridge Series, organized by 3 Bros Running Company.
