Runners choose a start wave when they sign up, and the early waves sell out well before race day. Entry fees cannot be refunded, deferred or transferred. Participants must be at least 12. Registration for the 2027 race was not yet open when checked.

Schedule and packet pickup
In 2026 waves went off between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m., the start line closed at 8:45 a.m., and the course closed at noon for everyone. Walkers were asked to pick a wave no later than 7:45 a.m. Strollers may start after the last wave.

In 2026 packets were available at Runner's Roost in Lakewood the weekend before, at the Microtel Inn in Georgetown the evening before, and at the start line on race morning. Someone else can collect your packet with your registration confirmation.
Course
The route circles Georgetown Lake, returning past the start near mile 2, then follows the frontage road beside I-70 and passes Bridal Falls in Idaho Springs. The road stays open to traffic, so keep right of the center line. Not currently USATF certified. Water stops are largely cupless.
Parking and travel
There is no race parking in Georgetown and public parking in Idaho Springs is limited and paid. Runners park in Idaho Springs and ride a participant only bus from the Clear Creek Recreation Center to the start; in 2026 buses ran from 5:45 to 8:00 a.m. A van carries runners back up to Georgetown afterward.
Awards
Entry includes a shirt designed by a Clear Creek student, a finisher medal and a post race party. Race themed awards go to the top three men and women in ten year age groups and the top three non binary finishers, presented at 11 a.m.; awards are not mailed.
The cause
Parent volunteers of the Clear Creek Booster Club organize the race, and proceeds support students at Clear Creek Middle School and Clear Creek High School. The race is also part of the Colorado Mountain Half+ Series.

A point to point half marathon, now in its 49th year, that drops about 1,000 feet down the Clear Creek Valley from Georgetown Lake at 8,500 feet to Miner Street in the old mining town of Idaho Springs. Roughly a quarter of the route is gravel or dirt and most of it is in full sun.
